What are some ideas for welcoming the new teens who are now old enough to join the youth group at church?
My church has a welcome party for the teens who are now old enough to join the youth group. We have food and play games, but we are thinking about having some sort of special ceremony to make them feel welcome. Anyone have any ideas about what we could do?
Recently our church did a ceremony that was exceptional. They dressed the youth room up as a funeral parlor. Stay with me now... They had pews with tissues, flowers at the front, and a casket in the back. They purpose of the ceremony was for all that were there to write on the obituary card all the things they did not like about themselves. Then then were asked to have small group prayer with someone they did not know, in groups of about 2-3. After prayers they were then instructed to rip the cards and put them in the casket. The speaker then read from the bible about how we are holy and righteous in God. That God made each of us special to his exact plan. I think you will be blown away but the results with your youth.
